Custom Calendars Give Your Business Exposure for a Full Year

Wouldn’t it be fabulous to have a marketing tool that gives your company maximum visibility, day in and day out? And what if you only had to think about that marketing tool once a year? It would be like hitting the marketing jackpot—and you can do it with custom calendars.

Custom calendars keep your company name top of mind 365 days a year. When your customers receive a promotional calendar, studies show they look at it 1-10 times a day. This means multiple exposures to your brand—every day, all year long.

Plus, even in a digital age, your customers still want printed calendars. Sure, they may have smartphones, but research shows that 50% of them haven’t ever used the calendar function on their phones. Instead, they’re turning their attention to printed calendars.

Promotional calendars have long been one of the top five most commonly purchased business gifts for three main reasons:
  1. They’re practical. Your customers refer to custom calendars every day at home and at work. In fact, the average person keeps three calendars at home and two in the workplace. They’re useful and appreciated, no matter the style you select.
  2. They offer can’t-be-beat exposure. Custom calendars offer 365 of advertising. You simply don’t get this kind of exposure with other forms of advertising such as e-mails or newspaper ads. Plus, consider where your customers place their promotional calendar. It likely ends up in a high-traffic, easily seen location in a home or office, boosting the probability that your logo gets seen regularly every day.
  3. They’re affordable. Custom calendars can pack a punch even if you have a slim marketing budget. For example, many of our calendars are well under a buck a piece. When you consider that your company name and logo are visible 365 days a year, you end up paying pennies a day—or less—for high-impact exposure.
Want to know how to give your customers promotional calendars or uses for promotional calendars?

KennedyPromo tip: Be first! Typically, the first calendar on the desk or wall stays put all year, so get a calendar in your customers’ hands before everyone else does. Now’s the time to start your custom calendar shopping.

Are we Facing the New Reality In Advertising?

I don't have to tell you that we are in rather disruptive time in the Advertising Industry.

As we witnessed a significant percentage one way print advertising migrate to a digital format, we hardly have time to catch our breath as we now face the growing mobile digital era. On top of it, our clients are changing the rules of engagement.

Traditional (One Way) Print and Broadcast Advertisers have been slowly moving towards an interactive relationship with customers through the Social Networks, websites and email. Every time I order something online, I'm asked to take a short survey that usually takes 20 minutes. If I don't participate, they have learned something about me and if I do, they learn even more!

I was at the nations 13th largest newspaper for 23 years up until 1995. Zip Code Targeting to Total Market Coverage were all the rage back then. Wal-Mart, Target and Sears were demanding it and Direct Mailers were beginning to eat away newspaper ad revenues, with Marriage Mail Programs at what many of us considered to be an alarming rate.

So finally newspapers, (dragged kicking and screaming), were forced to redefine their relationship with advertisers. Some have done well and some haven't. The newspaper I left in 1995 had just about 2500 employees. Today! I have been told, by an unnamed source, they are around 1000. I don't know if that's good or bad and I'm not judging... I think it's just the new reality.

So now the question is: Will Ad Agencies and Public Relations firms reinvent relationships with clients? Will they have to provide better ideas and increase the arrows in their quiver to keep clients on board? If you haven't started, you need to or you will lose the business to someone who will. From what I hear, there are many that are already on their way.

You know that at some point, the question will come: How much has to be done in house vs outsourcing to make a respectable profit? That depends on how much control you want to maintain.

One change we have made is that our interactive technology has allowed Kennedy Advertising to form strong interactive relationships with Preferred Service Providers Across the country rather than just in Las Vegas NV and Minneapolis/St. Paul MN.
Today we can design a catalog, product sample or an imprinted promotional item in Las Vegas, print it in Boston for an East coast Mailing and save Distribution Costs. Or we can launch a product fulfillment operation within days of an idea because we have the technology, distribution channel and the relationships built to handle lots of volume in a short period of time. None of what I listed above is really new! Some of you have probably created some of these ideas.

Now! What if you had a single (blind to the public) business partner that worked behind your brand to implement your ideas for you? That's an interesting question that needs more discussion. If I can help you think it through, let me know.

In the meantime:

A Half Dozen Great Ideas for Giving Promotional Products

The Holidays have passed, but that doesn't mean gift-giving season is over. People love getting promotional products any time of year and for any reason. Imagine your customers’ surprise and delight when you send them a gift smack in the middle of, say, January or May. They’re not expecting it, and it’ll blow them right out of the water.
Here are a Half Dozen Ideas for giving your Customers a Promotional Gift this year.
1. Your customers visited your trade show booth.
Whether your exhibiting or not, you need to have great trade show giveaways. It’s also a nice gesture to send your customers a follow-up gift after the show. They’ll appreciate your thoughtfulness, and it might be just the nudge they need to make a purchase.
2. You want to Thank a Customer for a Referral.
A referral is the highest honor your customers can give you, so it’s a good idea to show them a little appreciation. They've gone out of their way to endorse you, so send them something amazing. A luxurious embroidered blanket or a sophisticated wine gift will wow them—and keep those referrals rolling in.
3. Your Customers Signed up on your Website.
Whether they signed up for a newsletter, special offers or inside information, you can make your website stand out by sending customers a small token of thanks. They don’t have to be big-ticket items to be effective—go for cool notepads or funky pens.
4. It’s Your Customer’s Birthday or Anniversary
Everybody likes to feel like a VIP on their special day, so take the time to recognize your customer’s birthday each year. You’ll be remembered as a company that cares, and it’s all because you sent them a unique promotional product to celebrate their big day.
5. You Haven’t Heard from your Customers in a While.
Everyone’s busy and it can be hard to nurture every business relationship. If some time has passed since your last customer contact, send a small promotional gift to remind them you’re there and ready to work with them. It’ll put your company name top of mind and refresh your customers on what you offer.
6. Just Because.
Oftentimes, the best gifts are those given out of the blue and for no reason at all. By sending your customers a promotional product “just because,” you’re letting them know that you’re thinking of them. Try giving promotional travel tumbler filled with candy or a custom journal and pen combo.

KennedyPromo tip:

Packaging matters regardless of the timing or occasion for your gift, so make sure you present it attractively, whether in a custom gift box or bag.

Want to Relieve Some Holiday Stress? A few Ideas to Share!

Happy November! The Holiday Season is a great time to celebrate with friends and family and It can also be stressful. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a curmudgeon.... As I near 60 years old, there is nothing better than having the kids home for the Holidays..... But!!

Let's See! We have an important election next week. If I'm not mistaken, Thanksgiving is a week earlier this year. (3 weeks from today) Besides the family stuff, customers can become easily distracted and if this economy has you grinding to capture new sales, the Holidays do not make it any easier when clients are off of work.

So my goal today is to share some links that will help all of us get through get through the next 8 weeks.

1. This post is written for the entrepreneur, but it can apply to all kinds of people in the workforce. It's an article written by Yanik Silver entitled "The Secret to Getting It All Done at Work and Still Having a Personal Life"

2. Here are a few iPhone/iPad apps to help you relax. (I guess non-Apple Users don't have stress.) This article, written by Cynthia Boris, is entitled
"Stressed Out? Relax With These 5 Free Apps"

3. If one of your stresses is worrying about what and how much you are going to eat during the Holidays, Mary and I have discovered that if you prepare recipes from Weightwatcher's website, you are eating healthier and you don't have to be a member to get them.

4. Now! Like a lot of guys, I don't really like to go to malls and shop. Part of Mary's ritual is to shop for the Holidays so I go along and when she tells me what she thinks we should purchase, I let my thumbs do the shopping. Sites like Overstock.com, and others, offer free shipping so why should we drag bags around when UPS will deliver to our door. To get you started in the shopping paradigm shift, check out "Holiday Apps: 11 Smart Phone Tools For A Sane Season"

5. I have saved the "Best for Last"! If you really want to reduce your stress level for the Holidays, allow me to help with your client year-end gift giving this year. I have over 350,000 Items that I can Imprint, Embroider, Emboss and De-boss with your company message and logo. To share a few ideas, I have inserted 3 digital catalog links below for you to browse through. If you find something you would "LIKE" to buy for clients, I will provide FREE shipping (Like Overstock) to a single destination, for you to distribute, or if you have a list of clients that you would "LIKE" me to ship to, on your behalf, I can't pay for the shipping, but I will give you 20% OFF of the cost of your items if your order before November 20, 2012.

These three digital catalogs offer many different products for you to choose from at multiple price points in order to accommodate any budget. If you need to go lower, call me!

6 Ideas to Make Your Imprinted T-Shirts Stand out from the Others

This is the month when companies and community organizations begin to think about their apparel-based promotions and yes, T-Shirts take up a big part of those budgets... Why you ask?

The cost is very low and the is a large amount of space to imprint your message. From baseball battles to horror movies, there are some pretty Creative Ideas out there. Here are a few that I have used and a few that I have learned about. So check it out:

Queue Some QR: “Include a QR code in the art design and Imprinting. They can be used for Community Walks or Events by Companies or Community Organizations. The code would link the participants to the website that promotes the event or a company website. For more information, contact John Kennedy at 702-324-1334 or Email to kennedypromos@yahoo.com

Flip the Script: “Print the graphic upside down so when wearers hang their heads, they see the art. It’ll make everyone else look too. I saw such a shirt recently: On the back, printed upside down, it said, ‘If you can read this, pull me into the boat.’ And, because it was upside down, I focused on it to read it. For more information, contact John Kennedy at 702-324-1334 or Email to kennedypromos@yahoo.com

Fold and Roll: “Take the shirt, fold and roll it, and stand it on end to turn it into a figure. As a display at a convention, shirts were rolled and put into a standing position. Put a pair of Sunglasses at eye level, and top them with a hat to use as a giveaway or use them as a gifts for attendees or collect business cards at a trade show or event and hold a drawing. Fun use of a shirt gets everyone in the mood to party, celebrate and enjoy. For more information, contact John Kennedy at 702-324-1334 or Email to kennedypromos@yahoo.com

Supersize It: Make the T-shirts over-sized for wearers to use when sleeping, or to use at the beach or pool as a cover-up. For more information, contact John Kennedy at 702-324-1334 or Email to kennedypromos@yahoo.com

That’s a Wrap: Use a wraparound imprint to attract attention. People can’t help themselves; they have to walk around the wearer to capture the full message. For more information, contact John Kennedy at 702-324-1334 or Email to kennedypromos@yahoo.com

Bright Idea: This concept is perfect for kids on a field trip, adult groups on a hike, or a club. Suit up everyone in the same bright color – think neon red or squint-inducing yellow. It makes it easy to spot another member of the group. You can even add a number on the back of the shirt, so it’s easy to know who’s missing. For more information, contact John Kennedy at 702-324-1334 or Email to kennedypromos@yahoo.com

Interesting Statistics to Share on Client Gift Giving this Past Year

How many of you gave gifts to clients and prospects this year?

According to a recent gift-giving survey from the Advertising Specialty Institute, average spending on such gifts was up nearly 14% to about $30 per gift this year. ASI's survey also found clients aren’t the only ones benefiting from corporate beneficence. Employers who answered our survey say they spent an average $42.52 per employee on “THANK YOU” gifts this year, up nearly 20% from 2010.
The survey shows That gift cards and cash remain the most popular employee gifts, with 38% of respondents planning to give gift cards to employees. Cash bonuses are second, but fell by 8 percentage points to 24% since 2010.

Does corporate gift-giving work? Nearly a quarter of respondents say giving gifts to clients and prospects results in sales and leads, with 27% of those surveyed saying the gift resulted in a referral and 24% reporting generating a lead or a sale.

Other survey highlights include:
  • Food/beverages are the most commonly cited gift for clients or prospects, with 32% of respondents giving them.
  • Over one-half (52%) decorate their gifts with their logo.
  • The most commonly attributed results of gift-giving are broad, such as a thank you (69%) or generating goodwill (60%).

Here are some of the custom imprinted items that were the most popular for our clients this past year.

What was your favorite gift to give this year? Let me know by posting a comment or e-mailing me here or I'm on Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn
