Just because Something Isn't Happening for You Right Now, Doesn't Mean that it Will Never Happen!

Hi *|FNAME|*,

As some of you already know, my better
half, Mary Kennedy, is a RE/MAX Realtor here in Las Vegas. Part of my mission in life is to handle her Internet Marketing, which includes Email Marketing Social Networking/Sharing as well as publishing "The Las Vegas Valley Real Estate Update" There are also some great platforms and tools built for the Real Estate Industry that we integrate into our Email Marketing & Social Network Platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

I also run the Internet/Email Marketing for my own Printing/Ad Specialty business at Kennedy Advertising also known asKennedyPromos.com on the Internet. Two very different businesses!

Now I'm not writing to tell you that I'm the Grand Guru of Social Networking. That's the furthest from the truth. In fact, I kind of wince when I read a profile where the person claims to be a Social Media Guru. This medium is so new and fast moving that it's hard for me to believe that any one person is capable of maintaining expert status on a consistent basis. I will also offer that I have been wrong before and maybe I'm wrong now. We have had moderate success with both businesses and I'm happy just learning the way I am. Until I learn enough be dangerous, I'm happy!

I have spent most of my time learning by trial and error. After reading and listening to all the articles and books, I have come to the conclusion that if you are to be moderately successful at first, you need to:
  1. Spend a little time at it each day to Identify & Share Information, with Commentary, that readers will value.
  2. Track link performance. Videos are the hot link to share now!
  3. Keep Tweaking as you go. Read books and Sign Up for Social Networking E-Newsletters for new Ideas
  4. Stay focused and on task and mostly
  5. Don't give up!.... No matter what!.... Don't give up!
Now! Moderately successful may mean something different to others than to me. Just to Clarify! My friends, clients and business partners wouldn't mention the word patience in the same sentence with my name. I always like good things to happen faster than they do.

This process has tried my patience and as I have become frustrated along the way, it seems when I read a book or article or listen to a webcast, it charges me up again with a few Ideas to try and tweak by trial and error. I have found that as I continue, a small snowball from a few years ago is now rolling into something bigger. What size? I have not put any limits on yet!

In the end, the bottom line is what counts. Is there a payoff to all of the invested time and  little money when you look at the big picture? I can honestly tie this effort to about 14 home sales over the past 2 years with a few more  coming, so far, during the balance of 2014 for Mary. So there may be some momentum building. Am I sure? Nope!

I have over 1250 LinkedIn connections..... Is that good??? Jury is still out, but I tend to think that the 80/20 rule applies. Has it led to new business and new long term clients? ..... Yes with moderate success in my Advertising Business.  Is there momentum?..... Yes, but a different kind of momentum on LinkedIn. This platform helps me spread my message and share valuable links, with commentary that readers value. It allows me to share opinions and values that help build my online character. As I continue to post and share, the connections decide whether to interact and share opinions with me or even ultimately decide whether I may be a good person to do business with.

Remember the 80/20 rule I mentioned in the previous paragraph? Of my roughly 1250 LinkedIn connections, 20% are truly engaged on a consistent basis the other 80% are present on the platform with a profiles as they should be. They may have time constraints that don't allow them to engage or they may not have grasped the full concept Social Networking...... Yet!

At this point, all I can say is don't feel bad if you think you're not doing enough.. I'm still working on learning what enough is!

If you have any questions or need any help in any way, feel FREE to contact me at anytime.

Best Regards,

John Kennedy

Are we Facing the New Reality In Advertising?

I don't have to tell you that we are in rather disruptive time in the Advertising Industry.

As we witnessed a significant percentage one way print advertising migrate to a digital format, we hardly have time to catch our breath as we now face the growing mobile digital era. On top of it, our clients are changing the rules of engagement.

Traditional (One Way) Print and Broadcast Advertisers have been slowly moving towards an interactive relationship with customers through the Social Networks, websites and email. Every time I order something online, I'm asked to take a short survey that usually takes 20 minutes. If I don't participate, they have learned something about me and if I do, they learn even more!

I was at the nations 13th largest newspaper for 23 years up until 1995. Zip Code Targeting to Total Market Coverage were all the rage back then. Wal-Mart, Target and Sears were demanding it and Direct Mailers were beginning to eat away newspaper ad revenues, with Marriage Mail Programs at what many of us considered to be an alarming rate.

So finally newspapers, (dragged kicking and screaming), were forced to redefine their relationship with advertisers. Some have done well and some haven't. The newspaper I left in 1995 had just about 2500 employees. Today! I have been told, by an unnamed source, they are around 1000. I don't know if that's good or bad and I'm not judging... I think it's just the new reality.

So now the question is: Will Ad Agencies and Public Relations firms reinvent relationships with clients? Will they have to provide better ideas and increase the arrows in their quiver to keep clients on board? If you haven't started, you need to or you will lose the business to someone who will. From what I hear, there are many that are already on their way.

You know that at some point, the question will come: How much has to be done in house vs outsourcing to make a respectable profit? That depends on how much control you want to maintain.

One change we have made is that our interactive technology has allowed Kennedy Advertising to form strong interactive relationships with Preferred Service Providers Across the country rather than just in Las Vegas NV and Minneapolis/St. Paul MN.
Today we can design a catalog, product sample or an imprinted promotional item in Las Vegas, print it in Boston for an East coast Mailing and save Distribution Costs. Or we can launch a product fulfillment operation within days of an idea because we have the technology, distribution channel and the relationships built to handle lots of volume in a short period of time. None of what I listed above is really new! Some of you have probably created some of these ideas.

Now! What if you had a single (blind to the public) business partner that worked behind your brand to implement your ideas for you? That's an interesting question that needs more discussion. If I can help you think it through, let me know.

Google has Changed our World and Helped Save Lives.

In a crisis such as yesterday’s Boston Marathon terrorist attack, people need information about their loved ones—and they need it fast.

With Google Person Finder, they have access to this important information. Google built the tool after the 2010 Haiti earthquake. People can use it to search for someone or provide information. If no information is available, users can create a new record. They can also subscribe to status updates on a particular person, and if updated, they’ll receive an e-mail with new details.

Currently, Google’s Boston Marathon Person Finder is tracking 5,500 individuals. The tool has been used all over the world to reconnect people in post-disaster situations. What a remarkable advancement over the past 10-12 years. We can’t imagine the horror of being there or desperately seeking the whereabouts of a friend or loved one.

Google! We appreciate your helping people track down their friends and loved ones after such a scary and horrifying event.

To the City of Boston! We are praying for you and with you.

Rev Up Your Marketing With Promotional Car Sunshades

Big, bold and unmistakable, Promotional Car Sunshades get your logo across loud and clear. When your company name is printed prominently in gigantic, look-at-me letters, the effect is similar to having hundreds of billboards—people see your logo everywhere.

What makes Promotional Car Sunshades such powerful marketing tools? They move. Wherever recipients park their vehicles and pull out your imprinted sunshade, your logo gets seen. This exponentially extends the reach of your marketing message.

Promotional Car Sunshades have huge imprint areas, so take advantage by imprinting your logo, company name, phone number and web address. If you want to promote it, there’s room on the sunshade.

Here’s a look at the main types of promotional Car, Truck and SUV Sunshades:

Pop-open car sunshades. This type of sunshade features one or two panels that fold up for easy storage, and then pop open for maximum sun protection.

Accordion-style sunshades. Your customers can fold these out and put them in the windshield when they park their vehicle. It doesn't get easier!

Insulated Sunshades. This style of sunshade reflects more of the sun’s rays, keeping vehicle interiors cooler. They have a high-end look, and they’re durable, typically lasting for years.

Roller Custom Car Shades. These help reduce the temperature inside the vehicle and block sun rays from passengers’ faces. They’re ideal for side and back windows, and because drivers typically install them and leave them up, your company gets year-round exposure.

Few marketing ideas have the same amount of intensive, consistent exposure. Promotional Car Sunshades can make an impression on hundreds of people a day. In one month, your company could possibly gain exposure to hundreds of thousands of people—all with one promotional car sunshade.

KennedyPromos know-how tip: Promotional car sunshades aren't just used for keeping away the sun’s penetrating glare—your customers also use them to protect their dashboard from the sun’s rays or to block visibility inside the vehicle. They make a practical gift any time of year.

A Half Dozen Great Ideas for Giving Promotional Products

The Holidays have passed, but that doesn't mean gift-giving season is over. People love getting promotional products any time of year and for any reason. Imagine your customers’ surprise and delight when you send them a gift smack in the middle of, say, January or May. They’re not expecting it, and it’ll blow them right out of the water.
Here are a Half Dozen Ideas for giving your Customers a Promotional Gift this year.
1. Your customers visited your trade show booth.
Whether your exhibiting or not, you need to have great trade show giveaways. It’s also a nice gesture to send your customers a follow-up gift after the show. They’ll appreciate your thoughtfulness, and it might be just the nudge they need to make a purchase.
2. You want to Thank a Customer for a Referral.
A referral is the highest honor your customers can give you, so it’s a good idea to show them a little appreciation. They've gone out of their way to endorse you, so send them something amazing. A luxurious embroidered blanket or a sophisticated wine gift will wow them—and keep those referrals rolling in.
3. Your Customers Signed up on your Website.
Whether they signed up for a newsletter, special offers or inside information, you can make your website stand out by sending customers a small token of thanks. They don’t have to be big-ticket items to be effective—go for cool notepads or funky pens.
4. It’s Your Customer’s Birthday or Anniversary
Everybody likes to feel like a VIP on their special day, so take the time to recognize your customer’s birthday each year. You’ll be remembered as a company that cares, and it’s all because you sent them a unique promotional product to celebrate their big day.
5. You Haven’t Heard from your Customers in a While.
Everyone’s busy and it can be hard to nurture every business relationship. If some time has passed since your last customer contact, send a small promotional gift to remind them you’re there and ready to work with them. It’ll put your company name top of mind and refresh your customers on what you offer.
6. Just Because.
Oftentimes, the best gifts are those given out of the blue and for no reason at all. By sending your customers a promotional product “just because,” you’re letting them know that you’re thinking of them. Try giving promotional travel tumbler filled with candy or a custom journal and pen combo.

KennedyPromo tip:

Packaging matters regardless of the timing or occasion for your gift, so make sure you present it attractively, whether in a custom gift box or bag.

Google Continues to Impress Me More and More Each Day.

Now! I'm no major geek (I say that affectionately) on a computer, but I would probably rate myself as an intermediate user.

Like everyone else, I need to become more efficient while learning how to perform more tasks. So I'm constantly trying to discover more short cuts and, since buying my Windows 7 computer back in June, I'm finding more and more of them on Google. I know I'm just scratching the surface, but aren't we all.

Here are a few of tools and/or programs that I'm learning and that I "LIKE":

1. G mail now lets you Search within Email attachments: http://goo.gl/44Tp6

2. Google Voice Users Can Now Export Texts, Voice-mails & Phone Numbers: http://goo.gl/VhQVD

3. If you use Gmail, you can enrich your contact profiles on the right inside of Gmail: http://goo.gl/D7L8a

5. This one has nothing to do with business, but great for family member (Where was this when my kids were driving my cars?) safety: This App Turns Smartphones Into Safe Driving Tools http://goo.gl/QUsgE

The eBook Phenomenon And Why It Matters to the Future of Your Business.

When the Amazon Kindle first hit the market in 2007, a lot of people were skeptical. Would people really welcome the age of digital books with open arms? A few years later it’s safe to say that the answer to that question has been a resounding YES.

While print books aren’t quite dead yet, Amazon reported nearly a year ago that consumers were already buying more Kindle eBooks than print books! The speed of this transition has been impressive, considering Amazon had been selling print books for 15 years and eBooks for less than 4 when digital copies won the top spot.

The success of eBooks isn’t limited to just Amazon and its Kindle. The entire industry is pushing more digital copies now thanks to the popularity of mobile devices like eReaders and iPad-style tablets. In fact, eBook sales tripled from 2010 to 2011 and are expected to reach a staggering $9.7 billion by 2016. With such aggressive growth on the horizon, now is the time for your business to ride the coattails of these skyrocketing trends!
